Aquafit uses water resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone and remains an extremely popular fitness class for all ages and abilities. Although the class takes place in a pool environment you don't need to be a confident swimmer to take part as most exercises are done standing.
Water causes the body to become more buoyant and so the load bearing on joints and muscles is significantly reduced making it an ideal class for those requiring rehabilitation from injuries. As the water naturally cools the body many find the class a more comfortable work out than land based exercise.
